Course News & Reports

Winter Course Information

The steps to the 1st and 2nd tees are being carpeted to make them less slippery in icy conditions.

The turf on the new 18th tee has developed "snow mould". As the name states it has been brought on by the recent snow. Although it's not very nice to look at there are no long term effects to the grass and by Spring it should have recovered.

The fir trees at the back of the 16th tee have been removed. This has been on the agenda for a number of years following advice from the STRI to improve the condition of the 16th tee. There are plans to plant some smaller trees in their place.

18th Tee - Update 7.12.09

The turf has just arrived for the 18th tee, laying will start today .

18th Tee Refurbishment  -  Winter  2009/2010

The 18th medal tee is being  upgraded due to the existing  uneven surface. The opinion of Peter Jones, a course consultant was obtained. His recommendation resulted in a decision  to remove the mound forming the 'L' shape and  use the  excess soil to raise the level of the tee. This improvement will  increase the playing area and enhance the view of the hole from the medal tee.  In addition, the tree line will be taken back on the right hand side. Preliminary work has started.  More detailed information is available in the Members Area as a  News item and on the notice board.

Please be aware that the pathway leading from the right hand side of the 17th green to the back of the 18th tee will be closed while this work is taking place.

Sycamore Trees  -  Winter 2009/2010

The sycamore  trees between the 6th green and 7th tee will be thinned out during the winter.  It will probably be done in two stages – some will be dealt with in November, the remainder in the New Year.
