Dress Guidelines
At Gerrards Cross Golf Club, we seek to create an atmosphere in which members and visitors can enjoy all our amenities in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. It is not unreasonable, therefore, to expect members and visitors to maintain standards of dress and behaviour which will not embarrass others or impact on their pleasure, either on the Course or in the Clubhouse. We have a relaxed dress code, but insist on certain standards. The key issues are "smart" and "clean". On the Course and Practice Areas, smart, conventional golfing attire is required.
General Principles
- Whilst at the Club, members, guests and visitors should dress in appropriate clothing.
- In the absence of any specific guidelines, smart casual clothing is appropriate.
- If you are in any doubt, don't wear it.
On the course (including practice areas)
- Recognised golf attire as dictated by fashion and convention for both men and ladies.
In the Lounge
- Clean and dry clothes.
In the Dining Room
- In the evening (after 7pm) – Jacket and tie for men and the appropriate equivalent for ladies.
- At other times - as indicated by the Captain or Social Committee depending on the nature of the function.
- In the absence of any specific guidelines, smart casual clothing is appropriate, including for Sunday lunch.
Examples of inappropriate dress at Gerrards Cross Golf Club
- Denim jeans, tracksuits, paramilitary clothing, trainers, rugby/football shirts and beach wear.
- Short socks, other than white, when worn with shorts.
- Bare midriffs
- No shoes
- Shirts not tucked in, with the exception of fitted shirts designed to be worn untucked.
- Golf headwear in the clubhouse
- Changing anywhere other than the locker rooms
Denim jeans and training shoes are not acceptable. Shirts must have collars and must be tucked in. Tailored shorts, no shorter than just above the knee, may be worn with predominantly white socks of any length. Knee length socks of any colour are acceptable. Casual attire may be worn throughout the Clubhouse at any time, except in the Main Dining Room after 7.00pm. Out-door clothing must not be worn in the bars or dining room, except in the spike area between the patio door and the bar. Golfing hats or caps, wet, muddy or otherwise distressed clothing may not be worn in the Clubhouse.
Mobile Phones
Most members and visitors come to the Club to get way away from business and to enjoy their leisure without unwanted intrusions. Consequently, the use of mobile phones in and around the Clubhouse and on the Course and Practice Areas is considered to be unreasonable and is strictly prohibited. They may be used in the Car Park only. Please ensure your phone is switched off before entering the Clubhouse or going out to play.
Mobile phones may be taken on to the Course, but only switched on and used in the event of a medical or security incident.
Course Management, Local Rules & Notices
Local rules are shown on the scorecard. Temporary local rules, tee reservations and safety notices are displayed on the notice board directly opposite the Pro-shop door. Please read them before going out to play.
Safety
Safety on the golf course is the responsibility of all players. A small number of public footpaths cross the course and players are asked to exercise due care.
Security
The Club cannot be held responsible for the loss of items belonging to members or visitors. All players are advised to have their own insurance cover against any such losses and for third party liability. A code which is changed daily is used for operating the locker room doors and for access from the car parks to the course. There is a security barrier blocking the road to the 11th tee car park. This can be operated by a member's swipe card or the daily code which may be obtained from the Professional's shop.
The clubhouse car park is monitored by security cameras. Please report immediately to the Office any suspicious persons or vehicles. Do not leave valuables in your car.
We sincerely hope members and visitors alike will enjoy our course, clubhouse and their game of golf. It is to our mutual benefit and golfing pleasure that all members and guests abide by the rules and traditions of the Club and we thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.
