Gerrards Cross Golf Club

Quiz Night and David Howell - Wed. 1st March.

 

 

The  club welcomed the Golfbreaks  team on Wednesday 1st March, the company sponsored an evening involving European Tour and Ryder Cup golfer David Howell and BBC Sports presenter, John Watson.  Golfbreaks kindly provided  the food and some drinks for the 16 teams of six taking part in the Quiz Night. Team entries were restricted to members only. The evening started with a golf clinic at the rear of the clubhouse, with David Howell  in charge. A good turnout by members who showed their appreciation for the session. John Watson, a BBC Sport presenter lined up with David as Master of Ceremonies and interviewer for the second half of the evening.

After the complimentary supper, John Watson introduced  David Howell, the Golfbreaks team and Quizmaster, Brian Roake, He had prepared a Sports Quiz with four rounds of ten questions. Keenly contested as always, three teams wear tied for third place, John Watson organised a play off question to determine third place winners.

Nik Hays, lead for the Golfbreaks team gave a brief presentation promoting the company's attributes and successes in the golf travel business.

 

 

David Howell started his presentation with  summary of his career, mixed in were interesting and amusing anecdotes involving his global adventures in and around the personalities in the sport. John Watson then took on the role of interviewer for David  including  leading questions regarding the more controversial issues in the sport these days. For example  the LIV breakaway tour, David defended the PGA and U.S.P.GA. approach.  The session wound up with a Q & A session  from members.

After prize giving John rounded off the evening by thanking Gerrards Cross for being hosts for this GolfBreaks event. Mentions for :
