Glorious sunshine an added bonus for the Drive In for  incoming Captains, Henri Botha and Andrea Vanner. A good turn out of members as always refreshed with sausage rolls and Prosecco. These were served outdoors by Chris Martin celebrating his 30 years at the club.  Professional, Alex Nelson welcomed the Captains to the 1st Tee.  Adam Grint and Janet Tricker managed the traditional lottery open to members and guests, the aim to forecast the drive distance for both Captains. Alex and Adam were the recorders for the very good drives : 144m(157.5yds) for Andrea and 170M(186yds) for Henri. Smart winners of bottles of Champagne were Jeremy Rhodes and Ronnie Marsh. Coverage of the greensomes matches which followed the Drive in feature in a later news item.

Action moved on at lunchtime to the unveiling of the Henri's caricature in the Burrows Bar. Past Captain, Colin Sawyer deputized for incoming Vice Captain, Steve Derbyshire and  hosted the ceremony.  Free drinks were on offer courtesy of Steve in his absence to anyone who could predict theme items in the caricature before the unveiling. Multiple winners for Golf. Rugby Union and South Africa. Thanks go to artist and member, Gordon King for the caricature and attending the ceremony. Good luck to our Captains for 2019/2020. The charity supported by both Captains is On Course Foundation U.K., The aims of the charity are to encourage and support injured military personnel to take up golf as part of the recovery process.   On Course Foundation website
